WELCOME TO MAKERFOLK

Makerfolk is a modern + handmade retail shop in Old Town, Fort Collins. We support local makers, women-owned businesses, and the creative community of Fort Collins. You will also find LGBTQIA+ items, a curated selection of our favorite books, and fun DIY kits and craft supplies!

A Little History

We started out as friends who met monthly to talk about business, books, life, our local community…anddddd to rant a little and drink copious amounts of coffee. We often found ourselves talking about opening a shop (and googling address locations for rent in Fort Collins) so when the opportunity arose in the fall of 2019 to open up a shop inside Bean Cycle, we jumped! It’s honestly been a dream come true for us and we’re excited to see what the future holds for us as creatives, and for us as business owners. Come visit us at the shop-we’d love to say hi!

Makerfolk: Melissa Mika PAGEFIFTYFIVE

Melissa Mika: PAGEFIFTYFIVE

PAGEFIFTYFIVE is a one-woman paper goods company founded in 2012 right here in Fort Collins, Colorado. I design greeting cards and other paper goods that are honest, witty and sometimes awkward. That slogan is literally PAGEFIFTYFIVE in a nutshell. I unintentionally started this business when I couldn’t find a card that said exactly what I wanted it to say, and in my slightly snarky sense of humor, so I decided to make one! And the rest is history.

I’m passionate about fighting for social justice, women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights and making sure everyone has a voice. I’m also a huge book lover and am currently on the Fort Collins Reads committee along with Beth. Haven’t heard of us-click here and join in on the bookish fun! I also LOVE getting outside for a hike with my wife and pup, biking around town (or even farther if I get the motivation), drinking a delicious coffee or tea and spending time with friends who I consider my family. You'll see these themes pop up throughout my work-they are truly part of my heartbeat! Find out more about me on Instagram too!

Makerfolk Fort Collins, Beldamia

Beth Kopp:
BELDAMIA

Beldamia is a small-batch candle making company in Fort Collins, CO. My candles are hand-poured with US-grown soy and beeswax, cotton wicks, and scented with the highest quality phthalate-free fragrances and essential oils.

I’ve been making candles for 15 years and am obsessed with finding new scents! My favorites are florals (peony, rose, lilac, jasmine) but I burn my Woodsmoke candle all the time too. I’m very picky when it comes to fragrance so developing new editions for my line can take awhile. I will gladly talk your ear off about the best way to burn candles (trim the wick EVERY time you light it, burn 3-4 hrs each time) and reuse jars (bring to Makerfolk for $1 off or melt the wax out in a low-temp oven, wash with hot water + soap, and put a succulent in them!)

And I LOVE books, cats, witchy things, my hilarious husband, local nature walks, and living in Colorado. Talk to me about any of these things and we’ll be best friends!

What do we feel passionate about?! We find magic in making, creative ventures, in supporting like-minded people and providing our community with a unique place to shop for local, handmade goods. We also feel passionate about women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights and fighting like hell for social justice. We can’t live without reading and both of us give a lot of credit to books in helping form who we are today. We also both strive to live a magical, witchy life-so far, so good :) We love our city and one of our main goals is to make sure we’re part of what makes Fort Collins the most diverse, inclusive, welcoming and creative city that it can be.
